The latest season of the Ski Jumping World Cup 2017/2018 began on the 18th November 2017 in Wisła (Poland) and will conclude on the 25th March 2018 in Planica (Slovenia). The competition will be also held in January 2018 in Zakopane. The ski jumping hill in Zakopane was rebuilt with a view to host this event.
Wielka Krokiew in Zakopane was built in 1925, the hill size is 134 m and can hold the capacity of 25,000 spectators. The hill was modernised in time for the upcoming World Cup. After two years of work, the renovation was completed in November 2017. The works contained modernisation of the tracks along the in-run and renovation of the landing area which has new profile. The existing stairs along the hill were dismantled and replaced by new ones as well as the plastic coverings on the landing area.
We are proud that Staco Polska participated in this project. We have produced and galvanised 304,4 m2 of welded grating stair treads with a mesh size 34x38 and bearing bar 30x4 mm, which have been placed on the hill. Additionally we provided 46 m2 welded gratings type SP with mesh size 34x38 mm and bearing bar 30x3 mm. The twisted crossbars lend the welded gratings anti-slip properties in every place where adverse gratings service conditions caused by ice appear. That is one of the reasons Staco welded gratings are the perfect solution for staircases on the ski jumping hills.
